  1. My recollection is that those boxy cottages were Government-constructed during WW II as housing for people stationed at the Army Air Force installation, how named "Gabreski Airport," on Riverhead Plains.

    By the late '60s, the cost of a Summer rental for one of them exceeded the cost of building all six.
